Image imputation: an overview of existing methods and their comparison

Abstract:

Imputace obrazu je obor v oblasti zpracování digitálního obrazu, který se zabývá nahrazením nebo obnovením chybějících dat v obrazu a cílem je, aby výsledný obraz vypadal věrohodně. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá přehledem stávajících metod imputace obrazu a jejich srovnáváním. Dále práce uvádí přehled jednotlivých metrik, prostřednictvím kterých lze porovnat různé metody v oblasti image inpainting. Metriky také mohou identifikovat vlastnosti obrazu, jako je např. kontrast, ostrost, barevnost a struktura. V práci je zkoumána i relevance metrik z hlediska hodnot, datových sad a zda jsou metriky pro danou metodu charakterizující. Cílem je srovnat metody, které se vyskytují v oblasti image inpainting na základě vybraných metrik. Součástí práce je také soubor IMmetrics, který je implementován v programovacím jazyce Python a obsahuje metriky, které se používají i v oblasti image inpainting.

Abstract:

Image imputation is a branch of digital image processing that deals with replacing or restoring missing data in an image in order to make the resulting image look believable. This bachelor thesis deals with a survey of existing image imputation methods and their comparison. Furthermore, the thesis presents an overview of individual metrics through which different methods in the field of image inpainting can be compared. Metrics can also identify image properties such as contrast, sharpness, color and structure. The relevance of the metrics in terms of values, datasets and whether the metrics are characteristic of the method is also investigated in the thesis. The aim is to compare the methods found in image inpainting based on selected metrics. Additionaly, the work includes IMmetrics file, which is implemented in the Python programming language and contains metrics that are also used in the field of image inpainting.
