Fate/Grand Order: Between the intention of the authors and the view of the players

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o hře Fate/Grand Order, která se stala globálně rozšířeným fenoménem v rámci japonské populární kultury. Cílem práce bude porovnat, s jakým záměrem byly postavy vizuálně ztvárněny (a proč jim byly dány schopnosti a vlastnosti, jakými ve hře disponují) a jak postavy vnímají samotní hráči (jaké hodnoty si s postavami spojují a jak je interpretují a chápou). Rozhovory s autory hry mi nahradí Knihy materiálů, které obsahují všechny informace o postavách včetně komentářů ilustrátorů.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the game Fate/Grand Order, which has become a globally widespread phenomenon within Japanese popular culture. The aim of the thesis will be to compare with what purpose the characters were visually portrayed (and why they were given the abilities and qualities they possess in the game) and how players perceive the characters (what values they associate with the characters and how they interpret and understand them). Interviews with the authors of the game will be replaced by the Books of Materials, which contain all the information about the characters, including the comments of the illustrators.
