The impact of the Covid-19 on work in the IT environment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na změny v pracovním i osobním životě zaměstnanců pracujících v IT oddělení, a to v souvislosti s pandemií koronaviru SARS-CoV-2, která v České republice vypukla v březnu 2020. Z tohoto důvodu došlo často k razantní změně v přístupu k vykonávání pracovních povinností, schopnosti komunikovat s ostatními členy organizace a podmínkách pracovního prostředí, na které měl najednou daleko větší vliv osobní nebo rodinný život daného člověka. Jedním z cílů této práce je zjistit, jaké dopady z oblasti digitalizace nebo kybernetické bezpečnosti měly vliv na úroveň pracovní motivace a pracovní spokojenosti této skupiny zaměstnanců. Dalším cílem je pochopit, jaký efekt měla situace, kdy v rámci jedné firmy bylo ke komunikaci možné používat více různých platforem. V jednotlivých kapitolách jsou nejprve přiblíženy aspekty zkoumané problematiky, tedy doba pandemie, teorie pracovní motivace a pracovní spokojenosti. Následuje výzkum vypracovaný pro účely této práce, který je kvalitativní povahy. Data byla od respondentů získána skrze prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Závěr kromě výsledků vyplývajících z výzkumu obsahuje také reflexi práce, hodnocení zadaných cílů a doporučení pro případná další vědecká bádání.

Abstract:

This master thesis is focused on the changes in the working and personal lives of employees working in IT departments in the context of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, which broke out in the Czech Republic in March 2020. As a result, there was often a significant shift in the approach to performing work duties, the ability to communicate with other members of the organisation and the conditions of the working environment, which had a profound impact on the personal or family lives of the individuals concerned. One of the aims of this paper is to ascertain the impact of digitalisation and cyber security on the level of work motivation and job satisfaction of this group of employees. Another objective is to comprehend the effect of the situation where multiple different platforms could be used to communicate within the same company. In each chapter, aspects of the issue under study, namely the pandemic era, work motivation theory and job satisfaction, are first introduced. This is followed by the research developed for this thesis, which is qualitative in nature. Data was collected from the respondents through face-to-face semi-structured interviews. In addition to the results arising from the research, the conclusion includes a reflection on the thesis, an evaluation of the objectives set and recommendations for any further research.
