Young Adult Students' Motivation in Combined Studies Programme to Tertiary Education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje motivaci studentů v období mladé dospělosti k terciárnímu vzdělávání v kombinované formě. Uvádí definice vzdělávání, vymezuje ho dle stupňů a forem. Dále je představeno vývojové období mladé dospělosti a jeho vývojové charakteristiky. Je definována motivace, zároveň jsou jmenovány její druhy, specifika motivace mladých dospělých. Práce obsahuje výzkumné šetření zaměřující se na motivaci studentů v období mladé dospělosti k terciárnímu vzdělávání v kombinované formě. K výzkumnému šetření je použit kvalitativní přístup s využitím polostrukturovaného interview. Interview je vedeno s účastníky kombinované formy studia ve věku dvaceti až čtyřiceti let, kteří zároveň splňují podmínku současného studenta pedagogického oboru nebo studenta pedagogického oboru v posledních pěti letech a podmínku studenta s dvouletou nebo delší studijní pauzou před zahájením současného studia na vysoké škole. Cílem výzkumného šetření je zjistit, proč se studenti vrací zpět do školy, jaká je jejich motivace k návratu ke studiu a k terciárnímu vzdělávání v průběhu studia. Dále se práce soustřeďuje na to, co studenty na studiu nejvíce baví, co studentům ve studiu brání, výhody a nevýhody kombinovaného studia, jak studenti hodnotí výuku a návrhy a podněty ke zvýšení motivace studentů.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis deals with Young Adult Students' Motivation in Combined Studies Programme to Tertiary Education. It shows the definition of education, delimits it according to its degrees and forms. Young adult period and its developmental characteristics are delimited as well. Motivation is defined. Additionally, the types of motivation and the specifics of motivation in young adult period are described. The work provides the qualitative research based on young adult students' motivation in combined studies programme to tertiary education. Qualitative approach is used simultaneously with a semi-structured interview. The interview is held with the students of combined studies programme at age twenty to forty that at the same time fulfil the conditions of being a present student of pedagogical field or being a student of pedagogical field in last five years and being a student with two year or a longer study intermission before beginning of current studies at university. The goal of the research is to discover why students return to school and what their motivation is to return to studying and during their studies. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on what students enjoy most about their studies, what prevents them from studying, advantages and disadvantages of a combined studies programme, how students evaluate teaching and suggestions and impulses for increasing motivation.
