Character and dynamics of sedimentation in Odra River floodplain channel in Poodří PLA - 1st segment

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o jednom z paralelních ramen řeky Odry, které se nachází v CHKO Poodří. V její rešeršní části se zabývám problematikou aluviálních zátek, které ve fluviálním systému dávají vznik paralelním ramenům. Během terénní části výzkumu této práce jsme za pomoci totální stanice a sítě pevných bodů zaměřily příčné profily paralelním ramenem, abychom zjistili míru jeho zanášení sedimenty. Práce vznikla na popud CHKO Poodří, a především Rybářského svazu, dle kterého se koryto paralelního ramene od roku 2010, kdy proběhla na tomto území povodeň, zaplňuje větším množstvím sedimentů. Rovněž proběhl terénní odběr dnových sedimentů. Během laboratorních prací se postupně zjišťovaly veličiny jako obsah vody, magnetická susceptibilita či ztráta hmotnosti žíháním. Na závěr proběhla granulometrická analýza sedimentů. Zjistil jsem, že v daném úseku paralelního ramene se vyskytuje aluviální zátka, která je charakteristická specifickým zrnitostním složením sedimentů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis speaks to the readers about one of the parallel channels of Odra River in Poodří PLA. In the first part of this thesis I will introduce to you the problematics of alluvial plugs, which leads to creation of parallel channels. During the field measurements which are part of this thesis, we measured (with help of total station and the fixed-point network) cross sections of parallel channel, to find out the degree of deposition of sediment. The thesis was created at the instigation of Poodří PLA and Fisheries Union, according to which the parallel channel is filled with bigger amount of sediment since 2010 (this year was there a flood event). I also collected samples of sediments from the channel bed. In the laboratory part of this thesis I measured the water content, the magnetic susceptibility and the loss on ignition of collected samples. Last part was the granulometric analysis. I found that there is an alluvial plug in this parallel channel which is characterized by the specific grain composition of the sediments.
