Criminalistic and Forensic Analysis of a Fall of a Human Body from Height

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Kriminalistická a forenzní analýza pádu těla z výšky se zabývá komparací poznatků a studií na téma pádů osob z výšky. Zaměřuje se na pády způsobené pracovními úrazy, sebevraždami a trestnými činy. Analyzuje výpočty vhodné pro zjištění okolností pádů a také se zabývá myšlenkou, zdali je možné ze zranění nalezených na těle oběti určit způsob pádu. Pád z výšky může být výsledkem nejen nehody, nýbrž i vraždy nebo sebevraždy. Bez důkladného zhodnocení sociální historie osoby, výsledků pitvy a prozkoumání místa činu je obtížné určit příčinu smrti. K tomu by ovšem mohly napomoci fyzikální vzorce a matematické výpočty pro určení trajektorie pádu, ale také počítačové simulace jeho průběhu, jimiž se práce rovněž zabývá. Cílem diplomové práce je tedy zhodnotit a porovnat zmíněné postupy v této problematice a zjistit jejich případnou užitečnost pro kriminalisty a soudní znalce při vyšetřování trestných činů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis Criminalistic and Forensic Analysis of a Fall of a Human Body from Height discusses comparison of findings and studies on the topic of individuals falling from heights. It focuses on falls as a result of occupational injuries, suicides and crimes. It analyses the calculations appropriate for establishing the circumstances of the falls and also discusses the concept of whether it is possible to determine the manner of the fall on the basis of the injuries found on the body of the victim. Falling from a height may be the result of not just an accident, but also murder or suicide. Without thorough assessment of the social history of the person in question, the autopsy results and examination of the scene of the fall, it is difficult to determine the cause of death. However, physical formulae and mathematical calculations for determining fall trajectories and also computer simulations of the fall, which this paper also discusses, could help determine the cause. The objective of this diploma thesis is therefore to assess and compare the aforementioned procedures in the field of this issue and establish their potential usefulness to investigators and court experts during criminal investigations.
