Effect of head position on centre of gravity during the hand stand

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda poloha hlavy ovlivňuje stabilitu těžiště ve stoji na rukou. Subjektem výzkumu bylo 5 aktivních gymnastek (věk: 21.0?1.9; výška: 162.0?4.4; hmotnost: 55.8?5.1), které mají více než 5letou zkušenost s vrcholovou sportovní gymnastikou a systematickým gymnastickým tréninkem. Pro sběr kinematických dat bylo využito deseti infračervených kamer s frekvencí 240 Hz systému Qualisys a po těle gymnastek bylo rozmístěno celkem 36 reflexních markerů. Analýza dat byla prováděna v programu Visual3D (C-motion, Rockville, MD, USA). Gymnastky provedly 3 platné pokusy stoje na rukou ve dvou různých polohách hlavy - 1. standartní; 2. neutrální (hlava v prodloužení páteře) o délce 8-10 sekund. Výsledky práce ukázaly, že stabilnější poloha těžiště při stoji na rukou byla ve standartní poloze hlavy oproti neutrální poloze. Vysoká míra variability pohybů jednotlivých kloubů horních končetin byla naměřena v zápěstí a ramenním kloubu. V rámci individuálních výsledků jsme nalezli vysokou míru variability pohybu loketního kloubu.

Abstract:

The goal of this work was to determine whether the position of the head affects the stability of the center of gravity in a handstand.The research subjects were 5 active female gymnasts (age: 21.0?1.9; height:162.0?4.4; weight 55.8?5.1), who have more than 5 years of experience in elite competitive gymnastics and systematic gymnastics training. To collect kinematic data, ten infrared cameras with a frequency of 240 Hz from the Qualisys system were utilized, and a total of 36 reflective markers were placed on the bodies of the gymnasts.The data analysis was conducted using the Visual3D software (C-motion, Rockville, MD, USA). The gymnasts performed 3 valid attempts of handstands in two different head positions - 1. standard; 2. neutral (head in line with the spine) for a duration of 8-10 seconds. The results of the study showed that a more stable center of gravity during the handstand was achieved in the standard head position compared to the neutral position. A high level of variability in the movements of individual joints of the upper extremities was measured in the wrists and shoulder joints. Within the individual results, we found a high degree of variability in the movement of the elbow joint.
