“Sama doma”: Analysis of Magazine’s Content and Form with Emphasis on Spectators’ Reception of Construction of Femininity

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá obsahovou a formální podobou pořadu Sama doma s důrazem na diváckou recepci konstrukce ženství. Syntetizuje výzkum publika s výzkumem obsahovým. Vychází z kulturálně feministického studia médií. Výzkum se skládá ze dvou částí. První z nich se zaměřuje na to, jak respondentky (pravidelné divačky) hodnotí lifestylový televizní magazín pro ženy Sama doma, druhá potom na to, jak vnímají ženství pořadem konstruované. Stěžejní výzkumné metodě (problémově zaměřeným) hloubkovým rozhovorům s respondentkami, předchází diskurzivní analýza čtyř dílů pořadu Sama doma a screeningový dotazník, mapující základní sociodemografické a postojové charakteristiky respondentek. Zjištění výzkumu ukazují, že pořad Sama doma poskytuje prostor pro reformátování. Jedná se o běžný masmediální text, prostoupený množstvím hegemonických praxí usilujících o udržení statu quo současné patriarchálně orientované strukturace společnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the content and form of the lifestyle TV magazine “Sama doma” with emphasis on spectators’ reception of construction of femininity. Research of TV magazine’s spectators and TV magazine’s content is combined in this thesis and it is based on feminist media culture studies. Research consists of two parts. The first part focuses on how respondents (regular spectators) assesses the lifestyle TV magazine, the second one on how they perceive femininity constructed by the TV magazine. Discourse analyses of four epizodes of the TV magazine “Sama doma” and screening questionnaires describing the basic socio-demographic and attitudinal characteristics of respondents precede key research method, i.e. in-depth interviews with female respondents. Research findings show that the TV magazine “Sama doma” provides space for reformatting. It is a common mass media programme permeated with a number of hegemonic practices attempting to maintain the status quo of patriarchally-oriented structure of contemporary society.
