V první části přibližuje pojmy výkonnost a efektivnost a definuje ukazatele využívané pro jejich hodnocení. The theses entitled "Performance and effectiveness of the bank sector in the Czech Republic" deals with the evaluation of the performance and effectiveness of the Cezch bank sector as a whole. In its first part, the theses introduces and explains the terms "performance" and "effectiveness" and defines the indicators being used for their evaluation.
