Informal Networks and Firm Performance: The Impact of Social Connections on Innovation in the Pharmaceutical Industry in Bangladesh

Anotace:

This study examines the role of informal networks in enhancing the performance of Renata Pharmaceuticals, focusing on their contribution to knowledge sharing, problem-solving, and innovation. Grounded in social network theory, particularly Granovetter’s “strength of weak ties” and Burt’s structural holes, the research highlights the value of diverse, trust-based connections in driving organizational success. A quantitative approach, utilizing structured questionnaires with 139 employees, reveals that robust informal networks significantly enhance decision-making, creativity, and operational efficiency. Additionally, external collaborations with suppliers, customers, and academic institutions emerge as critical drivers of innovation and competitive advantage. The findings underscore the strategic importance of fostering informal networks and partnerships within the pharmaceutical industry. This study bridges theory and practice, offering actionable insights for optimizing performance through trust-based relationships and collaborative strategies, contributing to the broader understanding of organizational dynamics in high-performance settings
