Emancipation of Indigenous Peoples in Taiwan

Abstract:

Obsahem této bakalářské práce je emancipace původních obyvatel na Tchaj-wanu. Práce je rozdělena na tři hlavní části. Část první se věnuje historii a struktuře obyvatelstva Tchaj-wanu. V této části jsou popsány historické milníky důležité pro vývoj autonomie původních obyvatel. Struktura obyvatelstva popisuje jednotlivá etnika žijící na Tchaj-wanu a detailněji představuje jednotlivé státem oficiálně uznané kmeny původních obyvatel. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje na teoretické přístupy k emancipaci původních obyvatel ve světě. Rozebírá přístup OSN k problematice emancipace původních obyvatel a obsah Deklarace OSN o právech původních obyvatel. Dále se zabývá přístupem k emancipaci původních obyvatel v Austrálii. Třetí část práce se zabývá popisem nástrojů emancipace původních obyvatel na Tchaj-wanu. Konkrétně jsou zde rozebrány zákony týkající se původních obyvatel přijímané vládou a zhodnocení jejich účinnosti a naplnění některých z nich v praxi. V této části jsou dále popsány hlavní tchajwanské organizace zabývající problematikou původních obyvatel.

Abstract:

The content of this bachelor thesis is the emancipation of Indigenous peoples in Taiwan. The structure of the thesis comprises three main parts. The first part deals with the history of Taiwan and the demography of its population. Historical milestones important for the development of the autonomy of Taiwan´s Indigenous peoples are described in this section. Furthermore, it delves into the structure of the population by describing the different ethnic groups living in Taiwan and introducing each officially recognized Indigenous tribe in more detail. The second part is devoted to theoretical approaches to the indigenous emancipation in the world. It focuses on the United Nations´ approach to the issue of the emancipation of Indigenous peoples and discusses the content of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, UNDRIP. Additionally, this section deals with the approach to the emancipation of Indigenous peoples in Australia. The third part of the thesis discusses the instruments of the emancipation of Indigenous peoples in Taiwan. This section focuses on laws and acts concerning Indigenous peoples passed by the government and evaluates the effectiveness of some of these laws and their fulfilment in precise. Furthermore, this section focuses on the main Taiwanese organizations that deal with the issue of the Indigenous peoples.
