Economic implications of the Green Deal for Europe

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo identifikovat možné dopady zavedení Zelené dohody a s ní spojených opatření na českou ekonomiku, především v sektorech energetiky, dopravy a budov. K tomu byla využita analýza trendů emisí skleníkových plynů a dosavadního plnění závazků stanovených Zelenou dohodou. Práce rovněž zhodnotila současnou ekonomickou situaci České republiky v porovnání se státy V4 a představila možné důsledky implementace balíčku Fit for 55. Práce argumentuje, že zavedení těchto opatření může mít jak kladný, tak i záporný dopad na ekonomiku, a zdůrazňuje důležitost potřeby zabezpečit, aby byla opatření Zelené dohody zaváděna s důrazem na minimalizaci negativních dopadů na domácnosti, ať už prostřednictvím poskytování přímé finanční podpo-ry či skrz rekvalifikaci pracovníků v nejpostiženějších odvětvích.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis was to identify the potential implications of the European Green Deal and related initiatives on the Czech economy, with a partic-ular focus on the energy, transportation and buildings sectors. This was achieved by analysing trends in greenhouse gas emissions and the implementation of the commitments outlined in the European Green Deal to date. Additionally, the pa-per assessed the current economic situation of the Czech Republic in comparison with the V4 countries and presented the potential consequences of the imple-mentation of the Fit for 55 package. The thesis posits that the implementation of these measures can have both positive and negative impacts on the economy. It also emphasises the importance of ensuring that the European Green Deal measures are implemented with an emphasis on minimising negative impacts on households, whether through the provision of direct financial support or through the retraining of workers in the most affected sectors.
