Ancient goddesses - their metamorphosis and attributes from the animal world captured in fine arts

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na zvířecí atributy antických bohyň Afrodity, Artemidy, Athény a Héry. Popsán je vývoj kultu vybraných bohyň, (mytologický) původ jejich zvířecích atributů a jejich symbolika v antickém světě. Práce obsahuje katalog s vybranými uměleckými díly znázorňující zvířata ve společnosti bohyň. Na základě katalogu jsou v textu pasáže s popisem vývoje a způsobu ikonografie jednotlivých atributů.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the animal attributes of ancient goddesses Aphrodite, Artemis, Athena and Hera. There is described the development of the cults of this goddesses, the (mythological) origin of their animal attributes and symbolism of them in ancient world. The thesis includes the catalogue with selected artworks, which depicted animals with goddesses. In text are passages describing development and form of iconography of each animal, based on the artworks in catalogue.
