Perception of Young Girls in Victorian Children's Literature: Education and Socializing
Abstract:
The aim of the thesis is how education and socializing of young girls was portrayed in Victorian children's literature and how it differs from real life. The main part of this thesis consists of an analysis of four works from English literature: Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Though the Looking Glass, Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden and George MacDonald …více
Abstract:
Cílem práce je ukázat jak vzdělávání a socializace mladých dívek bylo vyobrazeno v dětské literatuře ve viktoriánské éře a jak se toto vyobrazení liší od skutečného života. Hlavní část práce se skládá ze čtyř děl anglické literatury: Alenka v říši divů a její pokračování Alenka za zrcadlem od Lewise Carrolla, Tajná zahrada od Frances Hodgson Burnett a Princezna a goblin od George MacDonalda.
