Late toxicity of accelerated radiotherapy of breast tumors

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou toxicity radioterapie karcinomu prsu, konkrétně se zaměřuje na pozdní toxicitu akcelerované radioterapie. Teoretická část přináší informace o problematice karcinomu prsu a možnostech jeho léčby. Samostatná kapitola je věnována radioterapii a možným vedlejším účinkům. Praktická část srovnává a následně vyhodnocuje toxické účinky po standardní a po akcelerované radioterapii. Bylo zjištěno, že radioterapie provedená akcelerovanou frakcionací je minimálně stejně účinná a nemá více nežádoucích účinků než ozáření provedené standardní frakcionací.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of toxicity of radiotherapy of breast cancer, focusing especially on the late toxicity of accelerated radiotherapy. The theoretical part provides information about breast cancer and its treatment options. A special chapter deals with radiotherapy and possible side effects. The practical part compares and subsequently evaluates the toxic effects after standard and after accelerated radiotherapy. Accelerated fractional radiotherapy has been found to be at least as effective and has no more adverse effects than standard fractional radiation.
