The influence of locus of control on the development of implicit theories of voice

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zaměstnaneckým mlčením, fenoménem objevujícím se v organizační komunikaci. Cílem práce je určit souvislost locus of control a mírou přesvědčení o implicitních teoriích hlasu, které jsou jednou z perspektiv, jak výzkum pohlíží na důvody zaměstnaneckého mlčení. Výzkum byl realizován na vzorku sčíta-jící 268 respondentů a data byla sbírána pomocí online dotazníku. Výsledky regresní analýzy měřící vliv locus of control na jednotlivé implicitní teorie hlasu uvádí, že lo-cus of control zaměstnance má vliv na pátou implicitní teorii (Negativní důsledky promluvení). Zbylé čtyři implicitní teorie hlasu (Předpoklad identifikace s cílem, Po-třeba spolehlivých údajů či řešení k promluvení, Neobcházet vedoucího směrem naho-ru, Neobcházet vedoucího na veřejnosti) nejsou významně ovlivněny locus of control.

Abstract:

This topic of this bachelor thesis is employee silence, a phenomenon occurring in organizational communication. The thesis aims to determine whether locus of control has an impact on implicit voice theories, which is one of the perspectives how research views the reasons for employee silence. The research was conducted on a sample of 268 respondents and data were collected using an online questionnaire. The results of the regression analysis measuring the effect of locus of control on each implicit theory of voice indicated that employee locus of control has an effect on the fifth implicit theory (Negative consequences of speaking up). The other four implicit voice theories (Presumed Target Identification, Need Solid Data or Solutions (to Speak Up, Don't Bypass the Boss Upward, Don't Embarrass the Boss in Public) are not significantly affected by locus of control.
