Analysis of disinformation flows during a pandemic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou dezinformačního toku v době pandemie, konkrétně na příkladu vybraných dezinformací souvisejících s pandemií COVID-19. Cílem práce je zhodnotit rozsah, charakter a dopady dezinformací šířících se v rámci této pandemie, a to zejména prostřednictvím sociálních médií. Práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci hlavních témat, která se objevují v dezinformačním toku, a analyzuje způsoby šíření dezinformací, jejich formy a zdroje. Metodou výzkumu bude obsahová analýza vybraných dezinformačních příspěvků na sociálních médiích, resp. webových stránkách AC-24 a Parlamentní listy. Práce se zaměří na období pandemie COVID-19 a bude se zabývat různými typy dezinformací, jako jsou falešné zprávy o účinnosti léčiv či vakcín, zavádějící informace o závažnosti viru nebo šíření dezinformací o opatřeních a omezeních spojených s pandemií. Další výzkumnou metodou bude dotazníkové šetření a řízený rozhovor zaměřený na vnímání informací, resp. desinformací spojenými s onemocněním Covid-19 Výsledky analýzy budou prezentovány a interpretovány s ohledem na rozsah dezinformačního toku, klíčová témata a způsoby šíření dezinformací v rámci pandemie. Práce také zhodnotí dopady dezinformačního toku na společnost, včetně rizik a důsledků pro veřejné zdraví, důvěryhodnost informací a procesy rozhodování. Výsledky této bakalářské práce mohou poskytnout užitečné poznatky pro odbornou veřejnost, výzkumníky, novináře a širokou veřejnost ohledně problematiky dezinformačního toku v době pandemie.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis of the disinformation flow during the pandemic, specifically through selected disinformation related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the scope, nature, and impact of disinformation spread during this pandemic, particularly through social media. The thesis focuses on identifying the main topics that appear in the disinformation flow, and analyzes the ways in which disinformation is spread, its forms, and sources.The research method will involve content analysis of selected disinformation posts on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The thesis will focus on the period of the COVID-19 pandemic from the beginning in 2020 to the present, and will examine various types of disinformation such as conspiracy theories, false information about the efficacy of drugs or vaccines, misleading information about the severity of the virus, or the dissemination of disinformation about measures and restrictions associated with the pandemic. The results of the analysis will be presented and interpreted with regard to the scope of the disinformation flow, key themes, and ways in which disinformation is spread during the pandemic. The thesis will also evaluate the impact of the disinformation flow on society, including risks and consequences for public health, information credibility, and decision-making processes. The results of this bachelor's thesis may provide useful insights for professionals, researchers, journalists, and the general public regarding the issue of disinformation during the pandemic. The thesis focuses on the analysis and interpretation of factual data, with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of the disinformation phenomenon in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting critical thinking and information literacy among the public during such exceptional events.
