Design of the posters for the series of exhibitions in Czech botanical gardens

Abstract:

Diplomová práce navazuje na bakalářskou práci, která nesla obdobný název: Scénář k seriálu výstav v botanických zahradách ČR. Oproti bakalářské práci, která obsahovala tři témata, je v rámci práce diplomové zpracováno pět témat (Parazitické rostliny, Léčivé a jedovaté rostliny, Invazní rostliny, Geneticky modifikované rostliny a poslední širší téma Historie botaniky a botanických zahrad, nomenklatura rostlin, historická a moderní systematika a taxonomie, vegetační věda a ekologie rostlin).Stěžejní částí práce jsou zdrojové texty ke každému tématu, z nichž jsem následně čerpal při tvorbě posterů. Ke každému tématu byly připraveny sady čtyř/pěti posterů sestávajících z textové části, obrázků, grafů, fotografií a tabulek. Tyto postery jsou určeny pro možnost jejich vystavení v rámci Unie botanických zahrad České republiky. Jelikož cílovou skupinou je laická veřejnost, texty posterů jsou zaměřeny na základní informace k jednotlivým tématům a jsou obohaceny o zajímavosti tak, aby pro čtenáře byly co nejpoutavější, ale zároveň i poučné.

Abstract:

This master’s thesis follows up on the bachelor’s thesis which had a similar title: A script for exhibition series in botanic gardens in the Czech Republic. Contrary to the bachelor’s thesis which covered three topics, five topics were included in the master’s thesis (Parasitic plants, Medicinal and poisonous plants, Invasive plants, Genetically modified plants and a broader topic History of botany and botanic gardens, plant nomenclature, historical and modern classification and taxonomy, vegetation science and ecology of plants). Fundamental part of this work consists of source texts for each topic which were used to make the posters. For each topic, a set of four/five posters was prepared each consisting of a text section, pictures, graphs, photos and tables. These posters are designed to be potentially displayed by the Union of botanic gardens of the Czech Republic. Due to the target audience being general public, the texts in the posters are focused on basic information about the topics and enriched with curiosities in order to be interesting but also educational for the readers.
