Abstract:

Annotation Bachelor Thesis Teaching English one-to-one deals with learning of English by a private tutor. The thesis includes two parts – the theoretical and the practical one. The first chapter of the theoretical part is focused on explanation of the term teaching one-to-one. The author describes here the main themes and items of teaching one-to-one, for example, confrontation of individual and group work, adjustment, involvement or proximity. The advantages and disadvantages of teaching one-to-one are placed at the end of the first chapter. The next chapter describes the learner. Motivation, learner s needs and learning styles are connected with this issue. The last chapter deals with syllabus and its formation. There is no formal syllabus in teaching one-to-one and private tutors base the content of lessons on learner s needs and requirements. The practical part describes three students who attend one-to-one classes. There are their casuistries that include their previous learning experience, their motivation for this type of education, their skills, their learning styles and activities that are suitable for them.
