The appreciation of the present situation of the localities of the fossil Cretaceous reptiles in the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin

Abstract:

V České křídové pánvi bylo za 150 let nalezeno několik desítek fosilií křídových plazů. Představují pozůstatky největších plazů, kteří na našem území žili. Jedná se o pozůstatky jedinců čeledí Chelonidae, Mosasauridae, Plesiosauridae, unikátní jsou u nás nálezy zástupců čeledí Ornithocheridae, Coleurosauridae a Iguanodontidae. Bližší druhové určení je nanejvýše sporné, vzhledem k ojedinělosti, fragmentárnosti a často také špatnému stavu uchování nálezů. Zatímco většina fosilií nalezených na počátku 20. století byla nalezena při těžbě křídových sedimentů (= opuk) tehdejšími dělníky, novější nálezy pocházejí ze stavebních úprav nebo jsou výsledkem výzkumů profesionálních i amatérských paleontologů. Tato práce popisuje fosilní pozůstatky křídových plazů a místa jejich nálezu, Shrnuje systematiku fosilních taxonů a řeší současný stav všech nalezišť.

Abstract:

About tens Cretaceous reptile fossils have been found in the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin in last 15 years. They represent remains of the biggest reptiles, which have lived in here. The remains belong to Chelonidae, Mosasauridae and Plesiosauridae, unical are remains of Ornithocheridae, Coleurosauridae and Iguanodontidae. Detailed taxonomy is doubtful, because the remains are isolated, fragmentary and often bad preserved as well. Older fossils from the beginning of the 20.th century were found during exploitation of Cretaceous sediments; new fossils came from building grounds or from researches of amateur or professional paleontologists. This work describes fossil Cretaceous reptile remains and places of theirs found, classification of fossil taxa and the present state of the all localities.
