Cranio-spinal irradiation for medulloblastoma

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem „Radioterapie kraniospinální osy u meduloblastomu“ se zabývá především srovnáním tří metod zevní radioterapie kraniospinální osy: technikou konformní zevní 3D radioterapií (3D-CRT), RapidArc (VMAT) a protonovou terapií. Dále práce přináší zhodnocení jejich výhod a odlišností pro terapii meduloblastomu. Práce se skládá z teoretické a praktické části. Teoretická část obsahuje v první kapitole anatomii centrální nervové soustavy, ve druhé kapitole se zabývá problematikou nádorů centrální nervové soustavy u dětí obecně a třetí kapitola přináší popis konkrétního nádoru dětského věku – meduloblastomu. Praktická část se v prvním úkolu zaměřuje na srovnání technik radioterapie kraniospinální osy – 3D-CRT, RapidArc a protonové terapie u jednoho konkrétního pacienta. Druhý úkol potom obsahuje popis souboru pacientů s meduloblastomem s následným zhodnocením pozdní toxicity a přežití. Na závěr bakalářské práce je provedeno komplexní zhodnocení získaných informací s návazností na jejich využití v praxi.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis entitled Craniospinal irradiation for medulloblastoma deals with a comparison of three methods of external beam radiotherapy for craniospinal irradiation: 3D-CRT, RapidArc (VMAT), and a proton therapy and brings an evaluation of benefits for medulloblastomaʼs therapy. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part contains anatomy of the central nervous system in the first chapter, the second chapter deals with an issue of the CNS tumours in children in general, and the third chapter provides a description of a specific childhood tumour - medulloblastoma. The first aim of the practical part focuses on a comparison of the three techniques of craniospinal irradiation – 3D-CRT, RapidArc, and the proton therapy at one specific patient. The second aim contains a description of the cohort of patients with a follow-up evaluation of the late toxicity and survival. In conclusion of my bachelor thesis, there is done a complex evaluation of obtained information with connection to their use in practise.
