Hardiness, personality properties and subjektive mental heatlh of laywers

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá fenomény hardiness, psychickými vlastnostmi a subjektivním zdravím. Hlavním cílem práce je realizovat výzkum zjišťující úroveň těchto fenoménů u skupiny právníků, najít mezi těmito proměnnými souvislosti, a zjistit, zda se liší v závislosti na pohlaví. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na vysvětlení a teoretická východiska zkoumaných oblastí, přičemž poukazuje na jejich určité souvislosti. Na jejím základě se zrealizovalo výzkumné šetření, které proběhlo za pomocí dvou standardizovaných inventářů, Personal Views Survey a Mini IPIP, a jedné otázky pro měření subjektivního zdraví využívající sedmibodovou škálu. Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo 73 právníků různých právnických profesí. Výsledky výzkumu ukázaly významné korelace mezi hardiness a extraverzí, hardiness a otevřeností vůči zkušenostem. Dále byl zaznamenán statisticky signifikantní vztah jedné složky hardiness (výzvy) se subjektivním zdravím. Korelační analýzou byla identifikována souvislost mezi svědomitostí a subjektivním zdravím. Na základě porovnávání mužů a žen bylo zjištěno, že skupiny se liší především v subjektivním zdraví. V úrovních hardiness a osobnostních vlastností mezi skupinami nebyl nalezen statisticky signifikantní rozdíl.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the phenomena of hardiness, personality traits and subjective health. The main aim of the thesis is to realize a research to determine the level of these phenomena in a group of lawyers, to find correlations between these variables, and to find out if these phenomena differ are related to the gender. The theoretical part focuses on the explanation and theoretical basis of the researched areas, pointing out certain connections of the phenomena. On this theoretical ground was conducted a survey using two standardized inventories, Personal View Survey and Mini IPIP, and one question for measuring subjective health using a sevenpoint scale. The research sample consists of 73 lawyers of various legal professions. The research results showed significant correlations between hardiness and extraversion, hardiness and opennes to experience. Further there was recorded a statistically significant relationship of one component of hardiness (challenge) with subjekctive health. A correlation analysis identified the relationship between conscientiousness and subjective health. Based on a comparison of men and women, it was found that the groups differ mainly in subjective health. No statistically significant difference was found between the levels of hardiness and personality traits between the groups.
