Immature morphology and taxonomy of central European jumping plant-lice species with special emphasis on the genus Eryngiofaga (Hemiptera: Psylloidea)

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje morfologii a taxonomii vývojových stádií (larev neboli nymf) mer (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Psylloidea) ve střední Evropě a speciálně doposud nepopsaným larvám rodu Eryngiofaga Klimaszewski, 1968 z čeledi Triozidae. První část práce je rešeršního typu. Představuje základní informace o merách obecně, morfologii jejich larev, včetně přehledu struktur a znaků využívaných pro jejich taxonomii, a shrnuje současný stav znalostí o taxonomii larev středoevropských druhů v podobě přehledu publikací obsahujících morfologické popisy, detailní ilustrace či určovací klíče založené na larvách ke všem jednotlivým taxonům, u nichž jsou larvy již známy. Navazující výzkumná část bakalářské práce zahrnuje morfologické popisy larev čtyř z pěti středoevropských druhů rodu Eryngiofaga, a to E. hungarica Klimaszewski, 1968; E. lautereri Loginova, 1977; E. loewiana (Šulc, 1913) (= E. dlabolai Vondráček, 1957) a E. mesomela (Flor, 1861), na základě materiálu ze sbírek Moravského zemského muzea v Brně. K druhově specifickým rozlišovacím znakům larev pátého instaru patří v rámci studované skupiny druhů tvar tykadlových rhinarií, délka mediálního páru sektaset na hlavě, délka přední křídelní pochvy, přítomnost či nepřítomnost jednoduchých set na okraji spodní strany zadečku, počet sektaset na okraji zadečku a vzájemná vzdálenost předního a zadního okraje cirkumanálního prstence. Larvy pátého instaru jsou u rodu Eryngiofaga dosti podobné jiným taxonům čeledi Triozidae, zejména rozsáhlou sklerotizací dorzální strany těla, přítomností souvislého lemu válcovitých sektaset se seříznutými póly na okraji těla a výrazným humerálním lalokem předních křídelních pochev. Od jiných středoevropských taxonů čeledi lze larvy pátého instaru rodu Eryngiofaga odlišit kombinací následujících znaků: tykadla s osmi články, humerální lalok dosahující téměř k horní hranici oka, arolia široce srdčitého tvaru, cirkumanální prstenec široce oválný až mělce srdčitý a s jedinou vnější řadou pórů, výskyt na hostitelských rostlinách z čeledi Apiaceae (miříkovité), a to na rodech Bupleurum (prorostlík) a Eryngium (máčka).

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the morphology and taxonomy of immature stages (larvae or nymphs) of jumping plant-lice or psyllids (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Psylloidea) in central Europe, particularly with hitherto undescribed larvae of the genus Eryngiofaga Klimaszewski, 1968 from the family Triozidae. The first part of the thesis is a review of basic information about psyllids in general, morphology of their larvae, including an overview of taxonomic characters, and it also summarizes the current state of knowledge on the larval taxonomy of psyllid species occurring in central Europe in the form of a list of publications containing morphological descriptions, detailed illustrations or identification keys based on larvae for each individual species. The second part of the thesis includes morphological descriptions of larvae of four of the five species of Eryngiofaga present in central Europe, namely E. hungarica Klimaszewski, 1968; E. lautereri Loginova, 1977; E. loewiana (Šulc, 1913) (= E. dlabolai Vondráček, 1957), and E. mesomela (Flor, 1861), based on material from the collections of the Moravian Museum in Brno. Species-specific diagnostic characters of the fifth instar larvae of these species include the shape of antennal rhinaria, the relative length of the median pair of sectasetae on the head, the forewing-pad length, the presence or absence of simple setae on the ventral side of the abdominal margin, the number of sectasetae on the abdominal margin, and the distance between the anterior and posterior margins of the circumanal pore ring. The fifth instar larvae of Eryngiofaga are quite similar to other taxa of the family Triozidae, e.g. in the extensive sclerotization of the dorsal body surface, the presence of a continuous row of cylindrical and apically truncate sectasetae on the body margin, and a large humeral lobe of the forewing-pads. From other central European triozid taxa, the fifth instar larvae of Eryngiofaga can be distinguished by a combination of the following characters: antenna with eight divisions, humeral lobe extending nearly to the anterior eye margin, arolia broadly heart-shaped, circumanal ring broadly oval or heart-shaped and with a single row of outer pores, and the host plants from the family Apiaceae (Bupleurum and Eryngium spp).
