Opera Singing as a Lifestyle

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá způsobem života operního pěvce. Zkoumá, do jaké míry jeho profese zasahuje do každodenních návyků. Pojednává o životním stylu jako takovém, a dále pak uvádí různé aspekty, které souvisí s vykonáváním tohoto povolání. Zabývá se příčinami civilizačních chorob jako je stres a reflux a následně popisuje, jak řešit nebo předcházet jejich důsledkům. Zjišťuje, jaká fyzická aktivita je pro pěvce vhodná. Uvádí několik dechových cvičení a zaobírá se duševní a hlasovou hygienou. Dále pak vlivem současných nároků moderní společnosti na pěvce. Nezbytnou součástí práce jsou strukturované otevřené rozhovory s českými operními pěvci, které výzkumnou metodou dotazování doplňují teoretickou část práce. Dotazovaní respondenti působí nejen v České republice, ale i v zahraničí. Záměrem práce je pomocí rozhovorů objasnit, jaké dovednosti musí operní pěvec v dnešní době ovládat a jaká další hlediska působí na míru jeho profesního úspěchu. Závěry, které z práce vyplývají, potvrzují tvrzení, že operní pěvec musí mít široký umělecký záběr, a dokazují, že tato profese značně zasahuje do jeho životního stylu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the way of life of an opera singer. It examines to what extent his profession interferes with everyday habits. It deals with the lifestyle as such, and then lists various aspects related to this profession. It analyses some of the causes of civilization diseases such as stress and reflux and then describes how to deal or prevent its consequences. Finds out what physical activity is suitable for a singer. It presents several breathing exercises and explore mental and vocal hygiene. Furthermore, examine the influence of the current demands of modern society on the singer. The open interviews with Czech opera singers are an essential part of the work, which complements the theoretical part of the work. The interviewed respondents perform not only in the Czech Republic, but also abroad. The aim of the work is to clarify through interviews what skills the opera singer must master today and what other aspects affect the level of his professional success. The conclusions that emerge from the work confirm the statement that the opera singer must have a wide artistic scope and prove that this profession significantly affects his lifestyle.
