Anti-terrorist policy of the European Union

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá v širších souvislostech protiteroristickou politikou EU. V teoretické části mé diplomové práce budu na úvod terminologicky definovat terorismus včetně základního pojmosloví. Následně se budu věnovat protiteroristické politice EU, která se přizpůsobuje dle dění z minulosti, inspiruje se dle teroristických útoků, které již proběhly, a snaží se neustále zlepšovat. V rámci této kapitoly věnuji pozornost i událostem 11. září 2001 a jaký dopad tyto události měly na protiteroristickou politiku EU. Zmíním také důležité instituce a agentury EU, které pomáhají v boji proti terorismu. Dále se budu věnovat aktuálním hrozbám pro EU, které souvisí s terorismem, zejména online propagandě a migraci v rámci globalizace. Na závěr teoretické části věnuji pozornost prevenci proti teroristické činnosti, kde vymezím bezpečnostní opatření EU a mezinárodní spolupráci mezi členskými státy v oblasti boje proti terorismu. V praktické části budu analyzovat protiteroristickou politiku EU v rámci analýzy a komparace vybraných teroristických útoků, které se odehrály v Evropě. V této souvislosti jsem vyhotovila ke každému útoku graf s přehledem ohledně obětí daného teroristického útoku, dle dostupných informací. Obsahem praktické části je také následná analýza a komparace pachatelů vybraných útoků. Zejména analýza jejich osobnostních rysů, sociálního prostředí a motivace k útoku, jelikož tyto okolnosti jsou možným předpokladem k radikalizaci. Cílem mé diplomové práce je analyzovat protiteroristickou politiku EU za pomoci podrobné analýzy a komparace vybraných teroristických útoků a jejich pachatelů v rámci EU.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the EU's anti-terrorist policy in a broader context. In the theoretical part of my thesis, I will first define terrorism terminologically, including basic terminology. Subsequently, I will focus on the anti-terrorist policy of the EU, which adapts according to the events of the past, is inspired by terrorist attacks that have already taken place and tries to constantly improve. Within this chapter, I also pay attention to the events of September 11, 2001 and the impact these events had on the EU's anti-terrorist policy. I will also mention important EU institutions and agencies that help in the fight against terrorism. I will also focus on current threats to the EU that are related to terrorism, especially online propaganda and migration within the framework of globalization. At the end of the terrorist section, I pay attention to the prevention of terrorist activity, where EU security measures and international cooperation between member states in the field of combating terrorism are defined. In the practical part, I will analyze the anti-terrorist policy of the EU within the analysis and comparison of selected terrorist attacks that took place in Europe. In this context, I made a graph for each attack with an overview of the victims of the given terrorist attack, according to the available information. The content of the practical part also includes subsequent analysis and comparison of the perpetrators of selected attacks. In particular, an analysis of their personality traits, social environment and motivation to attack, as these circumstances are a possible prerequisite for radicalization. The goal of my diploma thesis is to analyze the anti-terrorist policy of the EU with the help of a detailed analysis and comparison of selected terrorist attacks and their perpetrators within the EU.
