Nations for themselves, or on the architecture of national houses in Moravská Ostrava and Vítkovice

Abstract:

Práce se zaobírá čtyřmi budovami tzv. národních domů, vzniklých na konci 19. století na území dnešní Ostravy - Polským domem, Českým domem, Německým domem a Národním domem. U každé ze sledovaných budov se práce zaměřuje na sledování stavebního vývoje, na popis forem a funkcí budovy, na osoby projektantů a architektů a také na zasazení budov jak do kontextu dobové národnostní situace, tak do kontextu stavební situace v okolí a také do kontextu další tvorby architektů zkoumaných domů. Práce se také zabývá tím, jak u zkoumaných budov nacionalita ovlivnila formy architektury a dekorací.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with four buildings of a so called national houses, builded in the end of 19th century on area of today city of Ostrava - the Polish House, the Czech House, the German House and the National House. For each of the focused houses the thesis zoom in their building development, the description of forms and functions and the persons of architects. Thesis also placing the studied buildings in the context of contemporary local national and building situation and in the context of other works of focused architects. Moreover the thesis deals with fact, how nationality affect forms of architecture and decoration of studied houses.
