Czech political parties and European integration

Abstract:

Problematika evropeizace a úžejí postojů politických stran k evropské integraci se stala v posledních letech pevnou součástí politologického výzkumu. Předkládaná disertační práce se zabývá vybranými aspekty evropeizace v prostředí českého systému politických stran. Cílem práce je jednak analýza změn ve volebních programech relevantních politických stran v České republice zapříčiněných probíhající evropskou integrací. Změny ve volebních programech jsou přitom zkoumány pomocí definování kvalitativní a kvantitativní dimenze evropeizace. Druhou část práce tvoří výzkum postojů českých politických stran, které byly v letech 1998-2006 zastoupeny v Poslanecké sněmovně, k evropské integraci. Pomocí analýzy volebních programů a dat z expertního šetření se text zaměřuje primárně na tři dílčí cíle: charakteristiku a klasifikaci postojů, vztah postojů a ideologické identity politických stran a na vztah proměn v postojích a vládního/opozičního působení politické strany.

Abstract:

The topic of Europeanization and attitudes of political parties towards European integration has become the integral part of recent political science research. The thesis deals with some aspects of the Europeanization in the context of Czech party system. The text aims at the analysis of changes of Czech relevant political parties` election manifestoes which can be interpreted as a result of the existence of European integration. These changes are examined by the two-dimensional concept distinguishing quantitative and qualitative dimension of the Europeanization of election manifestoes. Second part of the thesis deals with attitudes of political parties towards the EU and follows up three different goals: clasification of the attitudes, examination of the relationship between attitudes and ideological identity of political parties and identification of the relationship between the changes of attitudes and governmental/opposition role of political parties.
