Kinematic analysis of center of mass during round off in gymnastics

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda rozdílná poloha rukou na podložce ovlivňuje vybrané kinematické parametry těžiště těl při provedení rondátu v ženské sportovní gymnastice. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo pět mladých sportovních gymnastek, které předvedly 10 rondátů v různých polohách rukou na podložce. Jednalo se o 5 pokusů v paralelním a 5 pokusů v T-postavení rukou na podložce. Data byla získávána prostřednictvím systému Qualisys a silových plošin Kistler. Pomocí effect size byly vyjádřeny rozdíly mezi proměnnými. Výsledky práce ukazují, že u skupiny gymnastek neexistují při změně polohy rukou na podložce významné rozdíly v klíčových kinematických proměnných, které se podílejí na technice provedení rondátu. Práce přináší empiricky podložené výsledky, které mohou přispět k objektivitě v procesu výběru techniky, což je nezbytné především pro trenérskou praxi.

Abstract:

The aim of my work was to find out whether selected kinematic parameters of the centre of gravity of a gymnast's body are influenced by a different position of hands on floor mat when performing a round off in women's artistic gymnastics. Five young female gymnasts participated in the research and they performed ten round offs with their hands in different positions on floor mat. The gymnasts performed five round offs with their hands in parallel position and five round offs with their hands in T position. The relevant data were collected via the Qualisys system and through the Kistler force plates. Effect sizes were computed to express the differences between the variables. The results of the work suggest that in this group of gymnasts there do not exist significant differences in key kinematic variables involved in the technique of execution of a round-off when the position of hands on floor mat changes. My work provides empirically underpinned results which may contribute to greater objectivity when selecting the right technique for the element, which is needed primarily in coaching practice.
