Abstract:

Diplomová práce Leopold Godowsky a jeho umělecký a pedagogický přínos v klavírní hře 20. století se zabývá klavírním uměním, pedagogickým působením a tvorbou L. Godowského. Autor se s využitím dostupných pramenů zaměřil na širší obeznámení s jeho osobností a zhodnocení jeho významu. Všímá si také důvodů, proč dodnes zůstává jméno Godowského v hudebním povědomí tak málo známé. V biografické kapitole práce jsou zachyceny životní a umělecké osudy; v kapitole o kompoziční tvorbě jsou charakterizovány Godowského významné skladby a transkripce. V kapitole věnované pedagogické činnosti je využito vzpomínek Genricha Nejgauze a přiblížena didakticky zaměřená díla. Práci završuje pohled na Godowského interpretační umění, koncertní činnost a nahrávky. V přílohách jsou seznamy děl, přehled nově dostupných notových materiálů a výběrová diskografie.

Abstract:

The masters thesis Leopold Godowsky and his artistic and pedagogical contribution to piano playing in the 20th century? deals with the pianistic art, pedagogical influence and the works of L. Godowsky. The author focused on a more detailed introduction to his personality and an evaluation of his significance using the accessible sources. The author also takes note of the reasons why Godowsky?s name is so little known among musicians and music lovers. The biographical chapter describes his civil and artistic life; the chapter about the compositional works characterizes the most significant original pieces of music and transcriptions. The memories of Heinrich Neuhaus are used in the chapter dedicated to pedagogical practice, together with an introduction to his works aimed on teaching. The thesis is ended by a view on Godowsky?s art of interpretation, concert activities and recordings. There are list of compositions, an overview of newly accessible sheet music materials and a choice of recordings to be found in the appendix.
