The Position of the President of the Czech Republic and his Relationship to Other Constitutional Authorities of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je "Postavení prezidenta republiky a vztah k ostatním ústavním orgánům České republiky". Jako hlavě státu příslušel prezidentu republiky v průběhu celého novodobého vývoje české státnosti dosti značný vliv, který byl v mnoha případech větší, než by vycházelo pouze z jeho pravomocí vyplývajících z aktuálně platných ústavních dokumentů. V určitém rozsahu je zde zachycen vývoj Ústavy de facto od října 1918 do současnosti. V průběhu času procházelo i postavení prezidenta určitými posuny a proměnami. Zásadní změnou současné doby je přímá volba prezidenta. Závěr práce je poté věnován komparaci funkcí prezidenta České republiky s funkcemi hlav dalších evropských států.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor’s thesis is "The Position of the President of the Czech Republic and his Relationship to Other Constitutional Authorities of the Czech Republic." President, as the head of the country has had rather considerable influence during the whole development of modern Czech statehood, which has been in many cases greater than would be based solely on his powers under the currently applicable constitutional documents. To some extent, the evolution of the Constitution is noticed as a matter of fact from October 1918. During the time even the position of the president has gone through changes and movements. The major change now is the direct election of the president. The conclusion of the thesis is then focused on a comparison of functions of the President of the Czech Republic with functions of the heads of other European countries.
