Comparison of Devices for Acoustic Tomography of Tree

Abstract:

Akustická tomografie stromů je jedna z nejpoužívanějších přístrojových metod sloužící k hodnocení stability stromů.V této diplomové práci byly mezi sebou porovnány výsledky tří nejpoužívanějších přístrojů určených pro akustickou tomografii stromů (ARBOTOMâ, ARBORSONICâ a PICUSâ ) na vybraných jedincích Quercus robur L. ve městě Brno, městská část Brno- Soběšice, Česká republika.Pomocí analýzy rozptylu bylo zjištěno, že existuje významný statistický rozdíl mezi hodnotami měřenými akustickým tomografem PICUS a hodnotami naměřenými tomografy ARBOTOM a ARBORSONIC.Na základě naměřených hodnot lze konstatovat, že rychlosti naměřené tomografem PICUS jsou podstatně nižší než rychlosti zaznamenány dalšími akustickými tomografy (ARBOTOM a ARBORSONIC).Obrazové rekonstrukce (tomogramy) všech tří akustických tomografů se od sebe podstatně liší, což může mít praktické následky při interpretaci výsledků této přístrojové metody.Pomocí korelace bylo zjištěno, že mezi rychlostí šíření zvuku, hustotou a vlhkostí dřeva neexistuje žádná statistická významná souvislost.

Abstract:

Tree acoustic tomography is one of the most widely used instrumental methods for tree stability assesment.This thesis compares the results of the three most used devices for acoustic tomography of standing trees (ARBOTOMâ, ARBORSONICâ a PICUSâ ) on selected individuals of Quercus robur L. in Brno, Brno-Soběšice, Czech Republic.According to the analysis of variance, there is a significant statistical difference between the values measured by the PICUS acoustic tomograph and the values measured by ARBOTOM and ARBORSONIC tomographs.Based on the measured data, it can be stated that PICUS measured velocities are considerably lower than those recorded by the other acoustic tomographs (ARBOTOM and ARBORSONIC).Image reconstructions (tomograms) from the three acoustic tomographs differ significantly from each other.According to the statistical correlation, it was found that there is no significant connection between sound velocity, density and humidity of wood.
