Gambling - addiction for poker players

Abstract:

Téma práce je zaměřeno na gamblerství, a to konkrétně na závislost hráčů pokeru. Cílem je zjistit informace týkající se vlivu pravidelného hraní pokerových turnajů v rodinách hráčů, kteří navštěvují kasino, ve kterém pracuji. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části popisuji obecné charakteristiky patologického hráčství, příčiny jeho vzniku a následný vývoj. Stručně se zaměřím na vliv vztahové vazby v dětství na závislostní chování v dospělosti. Popisuji nejen základní pravidla pokeru, ale také hlavní motivace, které jedince přivádí k opakovanému hraní. Nastíním také případné negativní stavy hráčů zapříčiněné prohrou. V neposlední řadě se věnuji dopady patologického hráčství na rodinu. To, zda v důsledku častého hraní pokeru opravdu dochází ke konfliktům v rodině, jak uvádí odborná literatura, zjišťuji v části praktické. K výsledkům jsem dospěla na základě stanovených hypotéz a následném vyhodnocení dat z dotazníku, který jsem vytvořila a rozdala konkrétnímu výzkumnému vzorku. V závěru vedu diskuzi k jednotlivým hypotézám, kde podrobněji popisuji výsledky a své konečné poznatky.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on gambling, and specifically poker players addiction. The aim is to find out information regarding the impact of regular playing of poker tournament in the families of poker players who visit the casino where I work. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes the general characteristics of pathological gambling, its causes and subsequent development. It briefly focuses on the impact of relational ties in childhood to addictive behavior in adulthood. Not only the basic rules of poker are described, but also the main motivation that leads individuals to repeated playing. The players possible negative conditions caused by losing are also outlined. Finally, it deals with the effects of pathological gambling on the family. The goal of the practical part is to find out whether there are conflicts in the families due to frequent poker playing, as presented in the literature. The results have been concluded on the basis of the hypotheses and the subsequent evaluation of the data from a questionnaire that I created and handed out to a specific research sample. At the conclusion, there is a discussion on the various hypotheses, where the results and its final findings are being described in a more detailed way.
