The Family Saga of A. S. Byatt's Tetralogy
Abstract:
Cílem této diplomové práce je představit tetralogii A. S. Byattové zahrnující romány The Virgin in the Garden, Still Life, Babel Tower a A Whistling Woman. Analýza těchto románů je zaměřena na zkoumání literárních principů, které autorka uplatňuje ve svých dílech, a na charakteristiku postmoderní hrdinky v literární tvorbě A. S. Byattové.Abstract:
The main subject of this dissertation is an analysis of A. S. Byatt´s tetralogy comprising her novels The Virgin in the Garden, Still Life, Babel Tower and A Whistling Woman. My aim is twofold, firstly to show that the novels analysed provide a good example of intertextual writing and secondly to discuss Byatt´s female characters in the quartet novels and her postmodern heroine in general.
