Person Identification based on Handwriting

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá expertizou ručního písma, s bližším zaměřením na problematiku ručně psaného podpisu. Cílem práce je shrnout současné základní poznatky v oboru písmoznalectví a v oblasti zkoumání podpisu a experimentálně ověřit některé faktory mající vliv na ručně psané písmo a podpis. V práci jsou použity analytické, komparativní a experimentální metody. Bylo provedeno i optoelektronické zkoumání podpisů v různých světelných spektrech. V počátečních kapitolách jsou vysvětleny aspekty vzniku písma v dějinách lidstva, historický vývoj písma, psacích prostředků a materiálů a historie oboru písmoznalectví. Autorka se dále zabývá procesem vytváření psacích návyků a dovedností a vlivem vnitřních a vnějších faktorů na ručně psané písmo i na podpis. Jsou vysvětleny obecné i individuální identifikační charakteristiky a specifika písma i podpisu, používané různými znaleckými směry („forenzními školami“) v ČR, SR, Evropě a USA. Dále jsou popsány různé způsoby padělaní podpisů a typické vlastnosti pro jejich rozpoznávání. V původní experimentální části se autorka zaměřuje na prokázání a specifika vlivu některých vybraných vnějších a vnitřních faktorů na rukopis a podpis. Práce vychází z velkého množství domácí i zahraniční odborné literatury z posledních 30 let i z poznatků a zkušeností, získaných autorkou na základě provedených experimentů. V závěru práce autorka navrhuje základní přístupy, jak se podepisovat, aby podpis byl co nejméně zranitelný vůči padělání.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the expertise of handwriting with a closer focus on the issue of a handwritten signature. The aim is to summarize current basic knowledge in handwritting and signature analysis and to conduct experimental verification of any factors influencing the handwriting and signature. The thesis uses analytical, comparative and experimental methods. An optoelectronic examination of signatures was carried out within different ligth spectrums. The introductory chapters explain some aspects of the beginning of writing in the history of mankind, the historical development of writing, the writing tools and materials, and the history of the forensic handwriting expertise. The author describes the process of creating writing habits and skills, and the impact of the internal and external factors on handwriting and signature. The thesis explains general and individual characteristics and specifics of handwriting and signature which are used by different expert groups ("forensic schools") in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Europe and the US. The following chapters describe various methods of signatures forgery and typical characteristics for its recognition. In the original experimental part the author focuses on the specifics and demonstration of the influence of some selected external and internal factors on the handwriting and signature. The bachelor thesis is based on a large number of domestic and foreign reference literature of the last 30 years and on the knowledge and experience that the author obtained from experiments. In the conclusion chapter the author suggests some fundamental approaches to make the handwritten signature as immune to forgery as possible.
