Physical punishment from the perspective of the parents of preschool childern

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá tělesnými tresty z pohledu rodičů dětí předškolního věku. Práce je koncipovaná do dvou částí, a to do teoretické a empirické. Teoretická část vymezuje pojem rodina, popisuje funkce rodiny, jakož i styly výchovy a prostředky rodinné výchovy. Dále charakterizuje dítě v předškolním období z hlediska fyzického, psychického a sociálního vývoje. Zaměřuje se také na definování trestu jako takového, včetně jeho funkcí a druhů, se zaměřením na tělesné tresty. Závěr teoretické části je věnován rizikům souvisejícím s používáním tělesných trestů, a také klíčovým dokumentům, jejichž cílem je ochrana práv, zdraví a života dětí. Empirická část obsahuje kvalitativní výzkumné šetření, jehož cílem bylo zjistit, jaké postoje rodiče dětí předškolního věku zaujímají k tělesným trestům. V úvodu této části práce je popsán metodologický postup výzkumného šetření a následně jsou prezentovány výsledky tohoto výzkumného šetření.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with physical punishments considering the point of view of pre-school children´s parents. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the concept of the family, describes functions of the family and the styles and means of family education. Furthermore, it defines a child of pre-school age considering its physical, psychical and social development. It focuses on the definition of the punishment itself, including its functions and types, especially the physical punishment. The conclusion of the theoretical part deals with risks associated with the application of the physical punishment and the key documents with the aim to protect rights, health, and lives of children. In the practical part, there is quantitative research, the aim of which was to find out the attitudes of pre-school children parents towards physical punishments. In the introduction of this thesis there was described the methodological approach of the research and subsequently there are presented the results of this research.
