German names of chosen Sudeten German municipalities in the today's Czech Republic and their etymology

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the names of chosen Sudeten-German municipalities and their German equivalents. In the introduction there is an explanation of the terms Sudetenland and toponomastics, which is followed by a list of municipalities divided into three parts (Moravia, Silesia, Bohemia). Each of the entries consists of the name of the municipality in Czech and German language and a short piece of information about its history and etymology of its name. At the end of the thesis there are a few alphabetical lists of the municipality names. This part is supposed to serve as an aid for translators.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá názvy vybraných sudetsko-německých obcí a jejich německými ekvivalenty. V úvodu se nachází vysvětlení pojmů Sudety a toponomastika, následuje soupis obcí dle jejich rozdělení v rámci Moravy, Slezska a Čech. U každé obce se vedle jejího názvu v německém i českém jazyce nachází krátká informace o její historii a etymologii jejího názvu. Na konci práce je několik abecedních seznamů názvů, které jsou určeny k ulehčení práce překladatelům.
