Antibacterial Effects of Quaternized Chitosan Products

Abstract:

This work focused on the production of quarternized chitosan for its antibacterial properties. To evaluate the antibacterial properties, HTCC/CMC polymer films were created. These films were subsequently enriched with essential oils: thyme, tea tree, cajeput and peppermint. From the results of the disk diffusion method, it can be concluded that with an increase in the concentration of HTCC in the HTCC/CMC film against all bacteria used, antibacterial properties increased. It was determined that a pure HTCC/CMC film based on 1% HTCC had the least antibacterial effect, while film with a concentration of 10% HTCC had he largest effect. The addition of essential oils in most cases increased the antibacterial ability of the HTCC/CMC film. A film with a concentration of 5% HTCC had a smaller antibacterial effect than a film with the same concentration of HTCC 5% but with the addition of peppermint oil.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřila na výrobu kvarternizovaného chitosanu pro jeho antibakteriální vlastnosti. Pro vyhodnocení antibakteriálních vlastností byly vytvořeny polymerní filmy HTCC/CMC. Tyto filmy byly následně obohaceny o esenciální oleje: tymián, tea tree, kajeput a máta kadeřavá. Z výsledků diskové difúzní metody lze konstatovat, že se zvýšením koncentrace HTCC ve filmu HTCC/CMC proti všem použitým bakteriím zvýšily antibakteriální vlastnosti. Bylo stanoveno, že čisty film HTCC/CMC na bázi 1% HTCC měl nejmenší antibakteriální účinek, zatímco největší měl film s koncentrací HTCC 10%. Přidáním esenciálních olejů se ve většině případů zvýšila antibakteriální schopnost HTCC/CMC filmu. Film s koncentrací 5% HTCC měl menší antibakteriální účinek , než film s koncentrací HTCC 5%, nebo film s přídavkem oleje máty kadeřavé.
