Demographic changes in the second half of the 20th century and their continuation as a challenge to pension systems

Abstract:

Práce analyzuje souvislosti populačního vývoje a financování penzijních systémů v České republice. Vzhledem k tomu, že výchozí složka demografického vývoje – klesající porodnost – je co se týče absolutních hodnot v posledních dvou dekádách již více než alarmující, naproti tomu se bezprecedentně zvyšuje délka dožití, je pak pochopitelné, že země, kterých se to především týká a její představitelé (politici, ekonomové, odborníci na pojištění či demografové) řeší závažné otázky, jak by na to měl reagovat penzijní systém.

Abstract:

This work analyzes the context of population development and financing of pension systems in the Czech Republic. Given that the default folder of demographic trends - declining birth rates - is in terms of absolute values in the last two decades from more than alarming, by contrast, the unprecedented increases the length of survival, it is understandable that countries which are particularly concerned and its leaders (politicians, economists, insurance experts and demographers) addresses important questions about how to respond to the pension system.
