Myth of Libuše in selected masterpieces of Czech literature (Zeyer, Urban etc.)

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na zpracování příběhu o kněžně Libuši v české literatuře. V prvních dvou kapitolách seznamuje čtenáře s definicemi pojmů mýtus a pověst, což jsou klíčové žánry jednotlivých vyprávění, a nabízí pohled historiků Vladimíra Karbusického a Dušana Třeštíka na danou látku. V dalších třech kapitolách seznamuje čtenáře s přístupem konkrétních autorů k látce, prezentuje proměny postavy Libuše a příběhu o ní v určitých dílech, zejména pak v básnickém cyklu Vyšehrad Julia Zeyera a románu Pole a palisáda Miloše Urbana. Cílem práce je ukázat čtenáři, jaký postoj zaujímali k příběhu o kněžně Libuši autoři starší české literatury a jak se jeho znění proměňuje v literatuře století devatenáctého a v současném písemnictví.

Abstract:

The bachelor?s thesis is focused on eleboration of a story about the Princess Libuše in the Czech literature. In the first two chapters, it informs readers about definitions of myth and legend, which are the key genres of each particular story, and it offers a view of historians Vladimír Karbusický and Dušan Třeštík on this topic. In the next three chapters, the bachelor?s thesis informs the readers about the specific authors?attitude to the topic, it presents changes in the character of Libuše as well as her story in certain works, especially in the poetic cycle Vyšehrad by Julius Zeyer and the novel Pole a palisáda by Miloš Urban. The main aim of the thesis is to show the reader which position authors of the Old Czech literature hold of the Princess Libuše?s story, and how its meaning changes in the literature of the 19th century as well as in the current literature.
