Reflection of Freud's Theories in Trilogy Acclimatization under Apollo

Abstract:

Tématem mé diplomové práce je odraz Freudových teorií v románové trilogii Aklimatizace v záři Apollóna. Toto dílo vzniklo v meziválečném období a jeho autorem je řecký spisovatel M. Karagatsis. Ve své práci se snažím zjistit, zda a nakolik se autor při vytváření trilogie inspiroval moderními Freudovými teoriemi. Po krátkém úvodu do literárněhistorického kontextu doby následují kapitoly, které mají za cíl představit a charakterizovat Karagatsisovo dílo a také ukázat pohled dobové kritiky na autorovu tvorbu. Jádrem práce je pak analýza jednotlivých románů trilogie. Nejprve podrobuji analýze hlavní myšlenku díla, posléze se zaměřuji na analýzu hlavních motivů z pohledu psychoanalýzy. Na závěr provádím charakterizaci hlavních a vedlejších románových postav a představuji obraz ženy v trilogii Aklimatizace v záři Apollóna.

Abstract:

My diploma thesis is dealing with impact of Freud´s theories on trilogy Acclimatization under Apollo. This trilogy was written by M. Karagatsis during the interwar period. At this time Freud´s theories were a source of inspiration for many writers. The aim of my thesis is to find out whether Karagatsis´s trilogy was also influenced by Freud´s psychoanalytic theory and if so, which particular Freud´s ideas and terms are hidden in analyzed texts. A brief introduction to historical and literary context is followed by chapters devoted to Karagatsis´s life and his work. The basis of this thesis is the analysis of three novels. First of all I focus on the main theme of trilogy, I am looking for particular motives and themes that appear in stories. Then I approach to the analysis of main motives from the psychoanalytical perspective. In the end I focus on characters appearing in this novels. I try to do a typology of female characters and present the portrait of woman in trilogy Acclimatization under Apollo.
