Abstract:

Tématem této diplomové práce je Mary Wroth v kontextu alžbětinské literární tradice a sidneyovské kultury. Hlavním cílem této práce je představit Mary Wroth jako důležitou ženskou autorku v kontextu rodiny Sidney. K tomuto účelu práce analyzuje její dílo, ale i literární vzory, které se promítly v díle Mary Wroth - konkrétně Francesca Petrarku, Williama Shakespeara a Philipa Sidneyho. Práce se také věnuje dobové politické situaci, která ovlivnila dílo Mary Wroth. Mary Wroth a její práce je představena na základě angloamerické debaty literárních odborníků, kteří se tímto tématem zabývají zhruba od osmdesátých let dvacátého století.

Abstract:

The topic of this diploma thesis is Mary Wroth in the context of Elizabethan Literary Culture and the Sidney Literary Tradition. The main purpose of this thesis is to introduce Mary Wroth as the important female author in the context of the Sidney family. For this purpose, the work analyzes her work and works of literary inspirations that were reflected in the work of Mary Wroth - specifically Francesco Petrarca, William Shakespeare and Philip Sidney. The work also analyzes the political situation of the time, which influenced the work of Mary Wroth. Mary Wroth and her work are presented in this thesis on the basis of a debate by Anglo-American literary experts who have been dealing with this topic since the 1980s.
