The impact of institutional forms of landscape management on selected protected species - Phengaris teleius and Phengaris nausithous

Abstract:

Celosvětový úbytek přirozených stanovišť a snižování rozmanitosti krajiny významně ovlivňuje biologické procesy a přežití mnoha druhů. Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na ochranu motýlů rodu Phengaris, konkrétně na druhy modrásek očkovaný (Phengaris teleius) a modrásek bahenní (Phengaris nausithous), jejichž biotopy jsou v současné době ohroženy v důsledku enviromentálních změn. Hlavním cílem práce je posoudit, zda institucionální péče o krajinu v rámci dotačního programu Modrásek, poskytovaného Státním zemědělským intervenčním fondem (SZIF), dokáže zajistit dostatečnou ochranu populací. V rámci literární rešerše byly analyzovány trendy v institucionální ochraně modrásků v České republice i Evropě a jejich dopad na populace modrásků. Terénní výzkum probíhal na 32 lokalitách v oblasti CHKO Českého středohoří, kde byla monitorována přítomnost a abundance obou druhů. Získaná data byla porovnána s daty starými 10 let, která byla získána z NDOP od AOPK ČR. Výsledky této práce poskytují důležité poznatky o účinnosti současných opatření na ochranu modrásků a naznačují směr, kterým by se měla ubírat budoucí ochranná strategie těchto ohrožených druhů. Práce přináší také návrhy na zlepšení stávajícího managementu zaměřeného na zajištění dlouhodobého přežití těchto motýlů v jejich přirozeném prostředí.

Abstract:

The global loss of natural habitats and the reduction of landscape diversity is significantly affecting biological processes and the survival of many species. This bachelor thesis focuses on the conservation of butterflies of the genus Phengaris, specifically the species Phengaris teleius and Phengaris nausithous, whose populations are currently threatened. The main objective of this thesis is to assess whether institutional management measures under the Blue Butterfly subsidy programme provided by the State Agricultural Intervention Fund (SAIF) can ensure sufficient protection of the populations. The literature research analysed trends in institutional protection of blue butterflies in the Czech Republic and Europe and their impact. The field research was conducted at 32 sites in the Bohemian Central Highlands Protected Landscape Area, where the presence and abundance of both species were monitored. The obtained data were compared with 10 years old data obtained from the NDOP of the AOPK ČR. The results of this work provide important insights into the effectiveness of current conservation measures and suggest the direction in which the future conservation strategy of these endangered species should take. The work also provides suggestions for improving current management aimed at ensuring the long-term survival of these butterflies in their natural habitat.
