Abstract:
Diplomová práce se zabývá významem hranice (?frontier?) při utváření americké identity. Zaměřuje se na jednotlivé fáze a příčiny posunu americké hranice, kolonizaci nového území a hlavní konflikty a války, které se získáváním území souvisely. Dále se práce soustřeďuje na ideu americtví a význam hranice, jenž se stal pojmem hluboce zakořeněným v mysli Američanů.
Abstract:
The thesis deals with the significance of the frontier in the process of formation of American identity. It focuses on the individual stages and causes of the shift of the American frontier, the colonization of the new area and the principal conflicts and wars,which are connected with acquiring the territory.
