Drafting and development of a children's camp games database for the Children and Youth Centre along with support for camp programme planning

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá optimalizováním procesu plánování a organizace dětských táborů v pražském Domu dětí a mládeže. Současný postup přípravy tábora je často zdlouhavý, náročný a poměrně neefektivní proces. Táborové programy se evidují velmi neorganizovaně a jejich případná recyklace je náročná. Cílem práce je navrhnout databázi dětských táborových her pro Dům dětí a mládeže s možností přidávání her do programů jednotlivých táborů a následně ji vytvořit v podobě jednoduché webové aplikace. První část práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci problémů evidence táborových her na základě provedených polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s táborovými vedoucími a na analýzu současného stavu v oblasti dětských táborů spolu se zhodnocením existujících českých projektů na evidenci táborových her. Analýza požadavků na vyvíjenou aplikaci je další částí práce, kterou následuje návrh databáze a vlastní vývoj webové aplikace v programovacím jazyku PHP. Výsledná aplikace je přizpůsobena přímo pro potřeby Domu dětí a mládeže a umožňuje snadnou tvorbu a evidenci táborových programů s možností přidávání her. Testování implementovaného řešení proběhlo nasazením do praxe při přípravě dvou příměstských táborů, tím byla ozkoušena naprostá většina funkcionalit aplikace. Ve výsledku se aplikace ukázala jako funkční a užitečná při využívání pro zamýšlené účely. Navazující vývoj je však možný a doporučený, neboť aplikaci by bylo vhodné rozšířit ještě o několik dalších funkcionalit, které by rozšířily její míru využitelnosti.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis deals with the optimization of the process of planning and organization of children's camps in the Prague Children and Youth Centre. The current method of camp preparation is often a lengthy, demanding and overall inefficient process. Camp programmes are filed in a very disorganised manner and their eventual recycling is challenging. The aim of this thesis is to design a database of children's camp games for the Children and Youth Centre with the possibility of adding games to the programs of individual camps and to subsequently create it in the form of a simple web application. The first part of the thesis focuses on identifying the problems in the camp games filing process through semi-structured interviews with camp leaders. It also analyses the current situation in the field of children's camps, along with evaluating existing Czech projects on camp games filing systems. The analysis of the requirements for the intended application is the next part of the work, followed by the database design and the actual development of the web application in the PHP programming language. The resulting application is tailored to the needs of the Children and Youth Centre and allows easy creation and registration of camp programmes with the possibility of adding games. Testing of the implemented solution was carried out by putting it into practice during the preparation of two suburban camps, thus testing the vast majority of the application's functionality. As a result, the application proved to be functional and useful when used for its intended purposes. However, further development is possible and recommended, as it would be useful to extend the application with a few more functionalities that would broaden its level of usability.
