Distribution and quantity of the Blackbird (Turdus merula), the Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) and the Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) in Pilsen in relation to presence the Magpies (Pica pica)

Abstract:

Touto prací navazuji na bakalářskou práci Martina Jirana a mou vlastní, které jsou součástí studie vlivu predace straky obecné (Pica pica) na výskyt a početnost modelových druhů pěvců ve 21 studijních plochách na území Plzně, Blatné, Horní Břízy a Protivína. Cílem této práce je popsat výskyt (rozšíření a početnost) čtyř druhů pěvců (kosa černého (Turdus merula), pěnkavy obecné (Fringilla coelebs), strnada obecného (Emberiza citrinella) a straky obecné (Pica pica)) na základě výsledků mapování hnízdního rozšíření ptáků v Plzni, které proběhlo v letech 1993?2002 v rámci výzkumného projektu Západočeského muzea v Plzni. Území bylo pokryto sítí 85 kvadrátů. V každém z kvadrátů byla vytyčena síť 20 sčítacích bodů. Celkem bylo území města Plzně pokryto 1 700 body. Obsazení bodů jednotlivými druhy bylo zkoumáno z hlediska společného výskytu i nevýskytu drobných pěvců a straky obecné vzhledem k nabídce biotopů (typu prostředí) v okolí sčítacích bodů.

Abstract:

This master?s thesis is a follow-up to Martin Jiran?s and my bachelor?s theses, both of which contribute to the research of the impact of the predation of Eurasian Magpie (Pica pica) on the occurrence and distribution of selected model songbird species on 21 researched areas in Pilsen, Blatná, Horní Bříza and Protivín. The goal of this thesis is to describe the occurrence (distribution and quantity) of the four songbird species (Common Blackbird (Turdus merula), Common Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs, Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) and Eurasian Magpie (Pica pica)) based on the results of the mapping of the nesting distribution of birds in Pilsen, carried out between 1993 and 2002 as a part of a research project of the Museum of West Bohemia in Pilsen. A grid of 85 quadrates has been applied on the area, with 20 counting points arranged. The total area of the city of Pilsen has been covered by 1,700 points. The occurrence of the species at each point has been studied for co-occurrence or non-occurrence of minor songbird species and Eurasian Magpie with regard to biotopes (types of environment) at and around the counting points.
