Planned parenthood and infertility in midwifery practice

Abstract:

Úvod: Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na plánované rodičovství a neplodnost z pohledu porodní asistentky. Věnuje pozornost pojmu neplodnost a analyzuje její potenciální příčiny. Představuje možnosti diagnostiky, léčby a související rizika. Dále zkoumá různé alternativní metody terapie neplodnosti a klade důraz na klíčovou úlohu porodní asistentky v klinické praxi při zajišťování dostupnosti těchto alternativních metod. Cíl práce: Hlavním cílem mé bakalářské práce je poukázat na důležitost všech faktorů ovlivňujících neplodnost v praxi porodní asistentky a zdůraznit důležitost porodní asistentky v klinické praxi ve směru zajistit dostupnost alternativních metod terapie neplodnosti. Metodika: V rámci mé bakalářské práce byla použita kvantitativní metodika průzkumu formou nestandardizovaného dotazníkového šetření. Průzkum proběhl v období od října 2023 do prosince 2023. Respondentky byly vybrány na základě kritérií, která zahrnovala věk mezi lety 1985 až 1999 a potíže s otěhotněním. Celkem se průzkumu účastnilo 470 respondentek, přičemž 49 dotazníků muselo být vyřazeno z různých důvodů, ať už kvůli nesplnění podmínek nebo chybně vyplněným otázkám. Dotazník obsahoval 23 otázek, z nichž 9 bylo otevřených, 9 uzavřených a 5 polytomických. Sběr informací probíhal zcela anonymně a byl vyhodnocen na základě popisné neboli deskriptivní statistiky. Výsledky: Z mého průzkumu vyplývá, že neplodnost je komplexní stav ovlivněný různými faktory, jako je obezita, užívání hormonální antikoncepce, endometrióza nebo syndrom polycystických ovarií. Porozumění všem těmto faktorům je klíčové pro úspěšnou léčbu a prevenci neplodnosti, a další výzkum v této oblasti je nezbytný pro zdokonalení diagnostiky a terapie. Dále mé zjištění naznačují, že většina žen vyhledává pomoc u obvodních gynekologů nebo v centrech asistované reprodukce, zatímco jen málo z nich se obrací na porodní asistentky. Je proto důležité zvýšit povědomí o roli a schopnostech porodních asistentek v oblasti léčby neplodnosti. Pokud jde o povědomí žen o existenci alternativních metod terapie neplodnosti, většina dotazovaných respondentek má dostatečné znalosti. Avšak otázka zůstává, zda jsou ženám dostatečně nabízeny alternativní metody léčby neplodnosti. Z mého průzkumu vyplývá, že větší skupině žen nebyla žádná alternativní metoda nabídnuta, zatímco menší skupině byla převážně doporučena akupunktura nebo Metoda dle Mojžíšové.

Abstract:

Introduction: The bachelor thesis focuses on family planning and infertility from the perspective of a midwife. It pays attention to the concept of infertility and analyses its potential causes. It presents the possibilities of diagnosis, treatment and the associated risks. It also explores various alternative methods of infertility treatment and emphasises the key role of the midwife in clinical practice in ensuring the availability of these alternative methods. Aim of the thesis: The main aim of my bachelor's thesis is to highlight the importance of all factors affecting infertility in midwifery practice and to emphasise the importance of midwives in clinical practice towards ensuring the availability of alternative methods of infertility treatment. Methodology: My bachelor thesis used a quantitative research methodology in the form of a non-standardized questionnaire survey. The survey was conducted between October 2023 and December 2023. Respondents were selected based on criteria where the year of birth ranged from 1985 to 1999 and women have or have had difficulty getting pregnant. A total of 470 respondents took part in the survey and 49 questionnaires had to be discarded for various reasons, either due to non-compliance or incorrectly completed questions. The questionnaire contained 24 questions, of which 10 were open-ended, 9 closed-ended and 5 polytomous. The information was collected completely anonymously and was evaluated using descriptive or descriptive statistics Results: My research shows that infertility is a complex condition influenced by various factors such as obesity, hormonal contraceptive use, endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome. Understanding all of these factors is key to successful treatment and prevention of infertility, and further research in this area is essential to improve diagnosis and therapy. Further, my findings suggest that most women seek help from district gynaecologists or assisted reproductive centres, while few seek help from midwives. It is therefore important to raise awareness of the role and skills of midwives in the management of infertility. Regarding women's awareness of the existence of alternative methods of infertility treatment, most of the respondents interviewed have sufficient knowledge. However, the question remains whether women are sufficiently offered alternative methods of infertility treatment. My research shows that the larger group of women were not offered any alternative method, while the smaller group were mostly recommended acupuncture or the Moses Method.
