Internationalisation of an Enterprise's Industrial Property

Abstract:

Předkládaná disertační práce se zabývá problematikou internacionalizace podniku a spojuje ji s oblastí průmyslového vlastnictví. Disertační práce tak zkoumá úlohu průmyslového vlastnictví podniku (patent, užitný vzor, průmyslový vzor, know-how) v rámci jeho internacionalizačního procesu - tedy při vstupu podniku na zahraniční trh prostřednictvím poskytnutí licence na uvedené předměty průmyslového vlastnictví zahraničnímu partnerovi. V literární rešerši je prostor věnován především samotné internacionalizaci a vybraným internacionalizačním modelům, které pracují s využitím průmyslového vlastnictví podniku. Dále vstupům na zahraniční trh a také identifikaci faktorů, které podnik ke geografické expanzi, resp. rozšíření svých obchodních aktivit za hranice národní ekonomiky a vstupu do hostitelské země motivují. V rámci druhé části literární rešerše je představena a teoreticky ukotvena problematika týkající se průmyslového vlastnictví podniku, kdy je pozornost věnována představení základních pojmů; dále licencí, inovací a technologického transferu. Analytická část disertační práce se zabývá zmapováním současné situace a vzájemnou komparací prvních dvou fází internacionalizačního procesu podniku podle Stopfordova internacionalizačního modelu (export a poskytování licencí do zahraničí) v podnikatelském prostředí ČR. Vzhledem k zaměření disertační práce byla při jejím zpracování využita sekundární data ze dvou statistických databází - mezinárodní obchod se zbožím (Eurostat) a roční zjišťování o licencích (ČSÚ). Dále jsou v disertační práci identifikovány vybrané faktory na straně podniku (vlastnictví, velikost, sídlo a ekonomická činnost), které mají vliv na skutečnost, zda podnik poskytuje licence, příp. zda je následně využívá také v rámci svého internacionalizačního procesu. V neposlední řadě je v disertační práci podrobněji analyzován vztah mezi exportem zboží a poskytováním licencí do zahraničí. Za tímto účelem byly mj. sestaveny regresní modely, které mohou být využity pro predikci budoucí hodnoty sledovaných ukazatelů na základě jejich vývoje během analyzovaného období (2012-2020), ale také se zaměřují na skutečnost, zda a příp. jak významně se přeshraniční poskytování licencí následně promítne ve změnách počtu exportérů zboží, resp. hodnoty exportu zboží.

Abstract:

The dissertation focuses on the internationalisation of an enterprise and combines it with the field of industrial property. Thus, the dissertation examines the role of enterprise industrial property (patent, utility model, industrial design, know-how) in its internationalisation process - i.e. when an enterprise enters a foreign market by granting a license. In the literature research, space is devoted primarily to internationalisation itself, selected internationalisation models that work with the use of enterprise industrial property, as well as entries into foreign markets and also the identification of factors that motivate an enterprise to its geographical expansion or more precisely the expansion of its business activities beyond the borders of the national economy and entry into the host country. The second part of the literature research introduces and theoretically anchors the issues related to the industrial property of an enterprise, where attention is paid mainly to the introduction of the basic concepts; as well as licensing, innovation and technology transfer. The analytical part of the dissertation deals with the mapping of the current situation and mutual comparison of the first two phases of the internationalisation process of a company according to Stopford's internationalisation model (export and licensing abroad) in the business environment of the Czech Republic. Due to the dissertation's focus, data from two statistical databases - international trade in goods (Eurostat) and statistical survey on licenses (Czech Statistical Office) - were used. Furthermore, the dissertation identifies selected factors on the side of the enterprise (ownership, size, headquarters and economic activity) that influence whether the company provides licenses or whether it subsequently uses them in its internationalisation process. Finally, the dissertation analyses the relationship between the export of goods and licensing abroad. For this purpose, regression models were constructed, which can be used to predict the future values of the monitored indicators based on their development during the analysed period (2012-2020). The models also focus on whether and, if so, how significantly cross-border licensing will subsequently be reflected in changes in the number of exporters of goods or the value of exported goods.
