Menstrual synchrony and analyses of Mandrillus sphinx menstrual cycles.

Abstract:

První část této bakalářské práce, rešerše literatury, mapuje všechny hlavní výsledky výzkumu, které byly uskutečněné v této oblasti prokázání nebo vyvrácení existence menstruační synchronizace/ asynchronizace, a popisuje tento jev do hloubky. Druhá část obsahuje prezentaci analýzy datových záznamů menstruačních cyklů samic mandrilů ryholících chovaných v ZOO v Ústí nad Labem. Tyto údaje ošetřovatelé zapisují na denní bázi již několik let. Analýza by měla poskytnout pohled na menstruační dynamiku této konkrétní skupiny.

Abstract:

The first part of this thesis, the literature review, maps all main research outcomes done within the given subject of proving or disproving menstrual synchrony/asynchrony and describing this phenomenon in depth. The second part is presenting analyses of data records of Mandrillus sphinx females living in captivity in the Ústí nad Labem ZOO. These data were collected by zookeepers on daily basis for couple of years. Analyses should give additional insights for evidence of significant synchrony/asynchrony of the peri-ovulatory period and to show the menstrual dynamics and context of this particular group.
