Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the issues of intercultural communication between two cultures: American and British. Even though members of these two cultures speak the same language there are some cultural differences between them. The first part of the thesis deals with introduction into the history of the field of intercultural communication, explains the main basic concepts such as culture, communication and introduces the theory of cultural variations from perspective of Greet Hofstede and Alfons Trompenaars, two significant figures in intercultural communication. After the concise introduction of both cultures, the thesis deals with the differences that may cause misunderstanding and difficulties in the communication between the members of two cultures.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na problematiku interkulturní komunikace mezi dvěma kulturami: Americkou a Britskou. Ačkoli příslušníci obou národu hovoří stejným jazykem, existují různé kulturní rozdíly mezi nimi. První část práce se zaměřuje na úvod do historie oboru interkulturní komunikace, vysvětluje hlavní základní koncepty jakožto kultura, komunikace a představuje teorii kulturních rozdílů z pohledů dvou významných osob v oboru interkulturní komunikace Greeta Hofteda a Alfonse Trompenaarse. Následně po stručném představení obou kultur,se práce zabývá rozdíly, které můžou způsobit nedorozumnění a potíže v komunikaci mezi příslušníky těchto dvou kultur.
