Strategic approach of China and the EU to a selected African country

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá strategickým přístupem Evropské unie a Čínské lidové republiky k Africe. Cílem je analyzovat přístup obou aktérů na základě jejich historického vývoje. Úvodní kapitola teoreticky pojednává o fenoménech ekonomické diplomacie a zahraniční politiky v kontextu základních myšlenkových proudů mezinárodních vztahů. Druhá kapitola se věnuje čínskému přístupu k Africe v kontextu její zahraniční politiky. Třetí kapitola se zabývá formováním vztahů mezi Afrikou a EU. Závěrečná kapitola je věnována působení Číny a EU v Etiopii od nárůstu tamních čínských aktivit po současnost. Zaměřením práce je charakterizovat oba přístupy a idetifikovat jejich odlišnosti na základě jejich historického vývoje. Cílem poslední kapitoli je zhodnotit dusledky současného působení obou aktérů v Etiopii.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the strategic approach of the European Union and the People 's Republic of China to Africa. The aim is to analyze the approach of both actors based on their historical development. The introductory chapter theoretically deals with the phenomena of economic diplomacy and foreign policy in the context of basic currents of thought in international relations. The second chapter deals with the Chinese approach to Africa in the context of its foreign policy. The third chapter deals with the formation of relations between Africa and the EU. The final chapter is devoted to the activities of China and the EU in Ethiopia from the growth of Chinese activities there to the present. The focus of the work is to characterize both approaches and identify their differences based on their historical development. The aim of the last chapter is to evaluate the consequences of the simultaneous action of both actors in Ethiopia.
